Overindulge Your Pleasant Child: Make Decision On Purple For Style Or For Amusement

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

Purple baby crib bedding is becoming popular with those who are looking for some gender neutrality in their baby’s decorations, or who just want something a little more unique. This nursery symbolizes luxury and royalty for everyone’s daughters because it’s sprinkled with purple. They plan on seeing their child with a room that is fit for a princess, royals always are garbed in this bright, rich color, whether in real life or fairy tales.

A purple ensemble is preferred to be matched and mix by some parents with one having a white background sprinkled with violets, lilacs, or lavender. Purple baby bedding is often used with many other themes including flowers and fruits for a naturally beautiful nursery. Oh, by the way, there really are parents who will go to any length to give their child a replica throne, slot velvety pillows scattered around the room and a good smattering of gold leaf on the woodwork, picture frames, and along the edges of mirrors.

Alternatively, many new parents are more intrigued by the idea of a whimsical room that will make their little one, and the big ones who visit also, laugh. A baby will not get much stimulation from a plain nursery, they like the loud, bright colors and silly purple cows or pictures of Barney, the favorite purple dinosaur of all children. These items can be used to even greater effect when combined with a set of our purple girls nursery bedding.

Obviously, generating concepts is the simple portion of the procedure, the confusing portion is the time when you browse among the numerous designs online that you see an try to simplify your purchase. Oh well, let’s hope that this hardest decision will also be the most enjoyable one that you have to make concerning your precious daughter.

Make sure to check that everything also meets the various accepted infant safety standards while checking out all the design choices. Packaged grouping containing tightly fitted crib sheets and non-bulky covers and bumpers with “hypoallergenic” plainly printed on the wrapper or labels should be stuck with.

Almost any shade of purple can be found when choosing your daughter’s crib bedding. Her birthstone will be amethyst, as she is a February baby and the beautiful violet color will be suitable for her through out her life like well-known people around the world.

Questions To Help You Find Baby Sitter Applicants

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

If you want to find baby sitter applicants, then you are in luck as they can be found almost everywhere. Sources like a community board can attract potential sitters from all walks of life. The real trouble is in finding the baby sitter who is just right for your family. One way to discover a good sitter is to conduct a comprehensive interview with applicants. Here are some tips to help you conduct a good interview.

Make Her Comfortable

You may think it is only an interview. However, even if you are interviewing applicants, you need to be more than just a potential employer. Conduct your interviews in a nice part of your home that is neither too cozy nor too cold. Make sure she has a comfortable chair to sit on and there is nothing potentially irritating like sunlight, insects or noisy children. Taking the effort to make her feel at home is not just a form of courtesy. It is also an effective way of breaking down her guard. It is in these unguarded moments that you get to know more about people and their backgrounds.

Break the Ice

The more comfortable your applicant it, the more you will be able to learn about how she handles kids. One way is to start asking questions that are not threatening. Begin the interview by asking an applicant to tell you a little bit about herself. Ask her where she is from and if she has any younger siblings.

Nannies are not without dreams and goals. You can also ask her a little bit about her education and goals in life. These questions will get your applicant talking and will provide the starting point for more serious questions. You do have to keep in mind though that there are lines that should be drawn. Do not be too invasive about private matters.

Ask the Obvious

You are not likely to find baby sitter applicants without resumes. Even so, you do have to ask questions about what is already obviously outlined in resumes. Ask her to expound about her previous baby sitting experiences. She may be able to reveal more about why she likes to baby sit and if she has learned anything from past experiences. This will help you find out if the applicant has interests that go beyond monetary rewards.

Ask Situational Questions

Ask about emergency situations. Most parents prefer to hire sitters who can react quickly to situations. In other words parents prefer applicants who know exactly what to do in any given situation. You can test how well an applicant can handle potential situations by asking her what she would do when these situations come up. You could ask her questions which you think are likely to happen especially with your child. If your child has an allergy for example, you can ask the applicant what she would do if your child suddenly had an allergy attack.

Be Observant

There are more ways than one to find out about a person. One other way is to observe non-verbal language. This is especially helpful if you want to find out if your applicant is telling the truth. Watch for signs of nervousness or uneasiness when you ask questions about her background and past experiences.

By now, you must know that it is not always easy to find baby sitter applicants who are actually good. Your search could take a lot of time but the task is not impossible if you know where and how to start.

Ten Safety Tips For The Parents Of A New Baby

Monday, May 17th, 2010

A new baby! Congratulations! A new little life to cuddle and hold. You want to savour every minute as your little person discovers his or her new world. But how do you keep them safe from harm as their new world unfolds? Here are ten tips for making sure that new baby is unharmed as you both begin this journey.

1.) Always make sure you crib meets safety criteria.

Your little one will be spending many hours here. Make sure the slats are no more than two and three eights inches apart. This is about the width of a pop can. Spaces that are any wider may allow your infant to get his or her head or other body parts caught, possibly causing serious harm.

2.) Schedule regular visits to his pediatrician.

At about two weeks of age, your child should begin regular appointments with his pediatrician. His doctor will look at his weight gain and development to insure that his health is progressing. She will also discuss nutrition and immunizations with you. These visits are important for staying informed of your baby’s health.

3.) Don’t heat bottles in the microwave.

Microwaves do not heat evenly. They create hot spots in the formula or breast milk that could scald your baby’s mouth and also destroy nutrients. Heat the bottle in tepid water instead. It takes longer but it is much safer.

4.) Don’t leave toys in his crib.

An infant does not yet know how to move away from a toy that has become pushed up against his face. Although the toy may be soft and inviting, it can cause suffocation. It’s best to take them out of the crib, especially when your child is sleeping.

5.) Never walk away from a baby that is placed on a changing table, couch, or any surface that does not have protective sides.

When changing your baby’s diaper, turning away for even a second can have terrible results. Babies who have not yet turned over on their own can suddenly figure this out and flip before you can catch them. Pick baby up if you have to reach for a diaper or a cotton swab. Don’t take any chances.

6.) Use a car seat especially made for infants.

Your new baby needs a car seat that fully supports his head and neck. Infant car seats are made with this in mind. Always place him in the back seat, facing the rear of the vehicle. Read through the instructions that came with your seat to insure you are strapping it in correctly.

7.) Make a regular inspection of his toys.

Playthings can become worn very quickly. Periodically check them to look for hazards such as sharp edges or peeling paint. Any small parts that could be choked on should be removed from the toy box. Check stuffed animals for shedding or loose stitching. Loose fibers or threads can be easily inhaled.

8.) Monitor family pets when they are near your baby.

Our pets are very often a very big part of our families and we want them to be included in the happy event of a new life, but sometimes they don’t understand all the excitement and changes that are happening in the household when a newborn arrives. Pets can act unexpectedly when they become confused. Don’t leave you baby unmonitored with your pet.

9.) Watch what your baby puts in his mouth.

A baby’s natural instinct will be to put things in her mouth. If small items are within reach, this could cause a choking hazard. Watch what she picks up and be prepared to act quickly!

10.) Check for clothing that has constrictive bands or tight areas.

Baby’s skin is very soft and delicate. Socks can become tight around the cuff as his little legs grow. If an item of clothing is chafing or leaving a mark, replace it with a more comfortable one. Clothing that rubs or irritates can cause a rash and discomfort.

These ten safety tips will help you to insure that your new baby has a healthy start in life.
