Choosing Where To Go To College

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

When you are in high school, you are under immense stress about which college you should choose. Everybody, your mom and dad, your teachers, and even your buddies, will be asking you where you are going to go.

College is a significant portion of your life and you have to think carefully about what is going to be right for you in the long run. You have to plan out your long-term goals and decide which college will help you achieve them.

First off, think about which type of school you can get into. It’s a great idea to apply to a large array of different schools. For example, you should apply for some that you would love to get into but aren’t sure if you will, some that you are pretty sure you’ll get into, and lastly ones you’ll know you can get into.

You have to be pragmatic about this and only select colleges you would actually go to. Staff are a big part of this, but there are many other things to consider.

You should certainly be considering location, which can make or break your time at college. If you want to be in a major city or if you want to be in a rural or suburban area, that is a big difference.

We all know there are a lot of colleges with many diverse qualities, so there is no shortage of choice. The major hurdle for you is deciding which one you want to attend and trying your best to get in.

Lastly, you should work out whether you want to go to a college with a lot of students, a more intimate campus, or somewhere in between. Some colleges have enormous rolls with near fifty thousand while there are some that have only a couple of thousand.

It’s a tough decision to make, but in the end, only you can make it. Research the schools, get a feel for them, and talk to others that went there. This will help you make one of your most important decisions in your lifetime.

What To Do When Trying To Get A Woman’s Number

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

If you go up to a girl at a club, or anywhere else for that matter, you need to take it cool and hope you get her phone number. As long as you are doing well, and you keep talking for a while, you should be the one to end it by making up some believable excuse.

Then you should causally ask for her phone number and tell her you would like to see her again. When she says ok, pass over your cell phone and get her to put her number on it.

While she is doing this, you should say that once she has finished you will call her phone so she has got yours too. This is critical because you can make sure you don’t have a fake.

Another thing that you should do is at the end of the evening send her a text saying how great it was to meet her and that you will call her really soon. You should try and make this text light and personal, leave her with a good feeling.

It’s always good to get yourself in her mind, especially at the end of the night, so that she wakes up the next morning and remembers you. If she does, you’ll have a better chance of actually seeing her again.

Lastly, you need to leave it for several days and then make contact again. Make sure it is a telephone call, texts just don’t cut it.

Before you speak to her, make sure you come up with a plan for what to suggest as a first date. Since you are the guy, you’ll need to figure out what to do and where to go.

The more casual and creative the better, don’t plan something to deep and meaningful. Also, don’t stay on the phone for too long, you still want to have something to discuss on the date.

Tips To Maintain A Budget In A Metropolitan City

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

Life in a big city is darned costly. You will find it hard to save any money when everyone is out and about spending up large, but you will have to learn how to control how you spend money as you will need to save.

Weekends are a time to relax and enjoy yourself, and even though you’re on a budget, it doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. There are free concerts you could go to, or spend an hour at a restaurant with some specials going on; even cheap comedy clubs can provide a great time.

In a major city, you can almost always count on something fun and exciting happening. All you need to do is check out the local newspaper, or take a quick peek at a website. There’s so many out there providing all the details on various events.

With just a bit of research, you can plan a great day, night or weekend for very little money. As long as you find the right people to enjoy it with, you’ve figure it all out for yourself.

The largest expense is often rent, which is hard to control. There are a few ways to trim this down though, though these are not always easy, you may find a rent-stabilized apartment, or be able to take a temporary vacancy.

Sometimes landlords are desperate for attendants, and in some cases they will provide a deal for you or are much more open to negotiations. Perhaps you might be able to get an apartment with seven free months of rent, who knows unless you try.

See, it isn’t that difficult to save money in the big smoke. In fact, you can do most of these things, even if you live in a smaller town.

The key is to stay disciplined and not spend wastefully when you really don’t have to. You’ll be thankful that you saved some money in the long run, especially if you need it for more important things like food and a place to stay.

Ways To Keep Your Home Office In Order

Monday, May 17th, 2010

As someone who works from home, I know the importance of organization. There are two types of work from home people, in my opinion. There are those who work in a home office and there are those who have laptops and tend to work anywhere in the house, or anywhere else that they go, such as coffee shops of the library.

Working from a home office does not necessarily mean you are less productive compared to those working in real offices. Similarly, this does not mean that if you work at home, you can afford to be sloppy. A well-organized home office can help you become more efficient and productive.

The basic necessities are a good desk and a suitable chair, these are non-negotiable. Let’s face it, you will be using these two things all day, every day, and if they are sub-par then you will suffer the consequences.

Also, you should make sure that your desk is equipped with anything that you might need, such as pens, pencils or a telephone. Your needs will depend on the type of job that you do.

As you need proper segregation of things in your office, you will need containers with labels for their respective purposes. Having these bins arranged systematically can avoid disorganization and can improve efficiency.

So, invest in some cheap plastic drawers or bins and take the time to designate one for each item, such as your outgoing mail. You could even take it a step further and color code your drawers.

Lastly, you need to know how to maximize your working day when you work at home. Getting distracted and being dragged away from your work are very easy things to happen when you work from home so be disciplined.

The best way to avoid these potential problems is to keep an alarm clock by your computer and set it to remind you to stop for lunch or when it’s time to quit for the day.
